What the job involves
A vibe coder makes software products with the help of AI tools: they describe a task in natural language, get code from the assistant, run it, check it and refine it. This is how prototypes, landing pages, internal tools, small apps and automations are made. The person has to understand clearly what the product should do and be able to judge whether it works correctly. Development is faster, but responsibility for the result stays with the author.
Skills you need
- the ability to give an assistant precise, step-by-step instructions (prompting)
- an understanding of how websites and apps are built: interface, server, database
- basic code reading and finding the causes of errors
- Git and publishing projects online
- product thinking: for whom, why and what comes first
- careful checking of results, including security and user data
- English good enough to read prompts and documentation
How to start and learn
Begin by understanding the basics: what an interface, a server, a database and an API are. Then pick one AI development tool and build several small projects from idea to publication. Read the code the assistant offers you and try to understand it at least at a basic level, otherwise fixing errors will be hard. Put your work into a portfolio. Programming experience is not required, but you need an interest in technology and readiness to verify results.
Where they work
In Armenia the vibe coding approach is used in startups, studios and agencies for quick prototypes and MVPs, in product teams for internal tools, and by freelancers and in people's own projects. The profession is new, and the requirements for specialists are still taking shape.
